RALEIGH – The N.C. Farm Bureau is holding a press conference at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27 in front of the legislative building to announce the release of its North Carolina Agriculture Workforce Report and what it means for the future of agriculture in North Carolina.
A media advisory announcing the press conference states that “An adequate farm workforce is necessary to maintain stable domestic food production and expand domestic food production to meet growing demand in the future. North Carolina Farm Bureau partnered with 18 other agricultural associations to conduct an agriculture workforce survey from December 2012 to February 2013. The web-based survey collected information from producers and agribusinesses to assess the availability and retention of workers during the past 5 years, as well as to seek input on current methods they utilize to obtain an adequate work force for their operations. More than 600 people from 95 of North Carolina’s 100 counties responded to the survey.”
