Leader Reives Statement on Election Oversight
“As election workers across the state continue their work ensuring that voters have their ballots accurately counted, North Carolinians need to be able to trust the process is unfolding without any partisan interference. Even the appearance of a finger on the scale will lead to uncertainty and further erosion of trust in the electoral process," House Democratic Leader Robert Reives said. “Voters see prominent officials charged with overseeing elections making their political preferences known and that leads to distrust. After the outrageous and ultimately unsuccessful attempt to overturn Justice Allison Riggs’ election win in 2024, it is understandable that North Carolinians will be watching this process closely as it unfolds.”
