Mike Rose, a conservative businessman and former Princeton Mayor Pro Tempore, has announced his candidacy for a full term on the Johnston County Board of Commissioners. He was appointed to represent District 3 in November 2024.

“I am proud to serve as a conservative Johnston County Commissioner, and am excited to officially announce my candidacy for a full term,” Rose said. “I believe it’s time for conservative leadership that listens, works hard, and puts people first.”

  • Fighting crime: Support sheriff’s office and law enforcement to combat drugs, illegal immigration, and violent crime.

  • Stronger infrastructure: Invest in water, sewer, stormwater, public safety, and emergency management.

  • Johnston County native, Princeton High School (1986).

  • Bachelor’s degree from East Carolina University (1991).

  • Former public school teacher.

  • Married to Lori, a retired teacher; they have two sons and three grandsons.

Conservative Commissioner Seeks Full Term

Johnston County Commissioner Mike Rose announced his candidacy for Johnston County’s 3rd District Commissioner seat today.  Rose, a conservative businessman and former Princeton Mayor Pro Tempore, was appointed to the 3rd District seat by the Johnston County Commissioners in November 2024.

“I am proud to serve as a conservative Johnston County Commissioner, and am excited to officially announce my candidacy for a full term as the County Commissioner for District 3,” Rose said.
“Johnston County is a special place, with strong communities, great opportunities, and a bright future. I believe it’s time for conservative leadership that listens, works hard, and puts people first,” he concluded.

 As your County Commissioner, Rose will continue to focus on:

 Low taxes and less wasteful spending – Making sure our county is competitive in recruiting more good jobs for working people by keeping taxes low and slashing wasteful spending.

 Fighting crime – Our sheriff’s department and other law enforcement agencies need our solid support to stop the scourge of drugs, the flow of illegal aliens, and violent crime.

Responsible Growth & Development – Making sure our community grows in a way that preserves our character while creating opportunity.

Stronger Infrastructure – Supporting improvements to water, sewer, stormwater mitigation, public safety and emergency management services.

Investing in People – Funding for quality schools, parks, and healthcare-related services that enrich lives for families, seniors, and small businesses.

Rose is a 1986 graduate of Princeton High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from East Carolina University in 1991.  A former public school teacher, Rose has owned and operated a small business, QuickShirts, since 1995.

Rose is married to his wife, Lori, a retired teacher, and they have two sons and three grandsons.  The Roses are members of Princeton Church of God.
