NCDHHS releases statement on Medicaid Expansion

NCDHHS releases statement on Medicaid Expansion

North Carolina legislative leaders announced Thursday an agreement to expand Medicaid to hundreds of thousands of additional low-income adults through the Affordable Care Act.

NCDHHS released a statement on the momentous agreement stating the agreement will directly improve the health and well-being of 600,000 North Carolinians. Medicaid expansion will be transformative for access to health care in rural areas, for better mental health and for veterans, working adults and their families. For these people, the agreement is life-changing.

NCDHHS will review the proposed legislation and looks forward to working with the General Assembly to get the timing right to maximize the federal funds coming to North Carolina to support hospitals and access to care across the state. You can read the entire statement on the NCDHHS website.
