(RALEIGH) Today Governor Josh Stein and Lieutenant Governor Rachel Hunt joined state and elected local officials in volunteering at the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina as federal food assistance continues to stall. During his visit, Governor Stein presented a $3.34 million check from the State of North Carolina, part of his ongoing initiative to surge public and private donations to food banks.
RALEIGH: Today, Lieutenant Governor Rachel Hunt led the first meeting of the Governor’s Task Force on Child Care and Early Education. The task force is working to find solutions to the child care crisis by identifying strengths and gaps in the current system, strengthening public and private investment in child care infrastructure, and working to recruit and retain a strong child care workforce.
Lieutenant Governor Rachel Hunt was appointed Co-Chair of Governor Stein’s new Task Force on Child Care and Early Education. The task force was announced during a visit to Kate’s Korner Learning Center in Durham, where the Governor and Lieutenant Governor toured the center, met with providers, and sent time with children in a classroom
Lieutenant Governor Rachel Hunt released her initial policy platform, Future-Ready North Carolina. As some of the first issues she will focus on, the Lieutenant Governor will focus on tackling the child care and early childhood education crisis in North Carolina and champion strong investments in community colleges to bolster workforce development.
