North Carolina state agencies and lawmakers have several items moving this morning, including a public comment period on an air permit revision in Davidson County, a nuisance abatement case in Wilson, a state committee meeting tied to agriculture and military land-use coordination, and legislative committee activity at the General Assembly.
NCDEQ opens public comment on Davidson County air permit revision
The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Air Quality is accepting public comments on proposed revisions to the air quality permit for the Egger-Lexington Particleboard Plant in Davidson County. The company has requested a modification that would increase resin use and the potential to emit volatile organic compounds and hazardous air pollutants. Comments and requests for a public hearing will be accepted through July 9.
Temporary restraining order issued in Wilson nuisance case
A Superior Court judge issued a temporary restraining order against the owners and operators of America’s Best Value Inn at 1815 U.S. 301 South in Wilson after a nuisance abatement investigation involving the Wilson Police Department, the city of Wilson and the N.C. Alcohol Law Enforcement Division. The order restricts the property while further court proceedings are pending.
NC Sentinel Landscape Committee to meet June 16
The North Carolina Sentinel Landscape Committee will meet June 16 at 1:30 p.m. in the Hall of Fame Room at the Agriculture Building in Raleigh. The public may also join by phone. The committee is a partnership focused on collaboration among farmers, foresters, conservationists and military installations to benefit and protect North Carolina’s agriculture and defense sectors.
Legislature schedules Thursday committee meetings
The North Carolina General Assembly calendar for June 11 listed a 9 a.m. House session and Senate activity including the Rules and Operations Committee and Health Care Committee. Listed items included House Bill 376, Water/Wastewater Affordability & Capacity Act; House Bill 1035, Various Local Election Changes III; House Bill 83, Revise Laws on Minors/Human Trafficking; and Senate Bill 978, Healthcare Competition Reforms.
