State Board of Elections to meet June 24
The North Carolina State Board of Elections is scheduled to meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, at the State Board offices in the Dobbs Building, 430 N. Salisbury St., Raleigh. The board said the public may observe the meeting online or by phone.
Absentee voting rule hearing scheduled Monday
The State Board of Elections is accepting public comments on proposed rules related to absentee voting, photo ID, recounts and voting sites. The comment period runs through July 14. An in-person public hearing on absentee voting rules is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, June 22, at the State Board of Elections office in Raleigh.
Opportunity Zone nominations due Sunday night
The N.C. Department of Commerce extended the public comment deadline for North Carolina’s Opportunity Zone nomination process to 11:59 p.m. Sunday, June 21. The department said North Carolina may nominate up to 202 of 807 eligible low-income census tracts for federal Opportunity Zone designation.
Environmental Review Commission meeting canceled
The North Carolina General Assembly’s official legislative calendar lists the Environmental Review Commission meeting scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, June 22, as canceled. The calendar still lists the Blue Ribbon Commission on Public Education, House session and Senate session for Monday.
