Community college presidential search committee meets June 22-23

The N.C. Community College System Presidential Search Committee is scheduled to meet Monday, June 22, at 8:30 a.m. and Tuesday, June 23, at 8:15 a.m. The meetings will be livestreamed on the system office’s YouTube channel and are open to the public, though some portions may be held in closed session under state law.

State Board of Elections to meet June 24

The State Board of Elections is scheduled to meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, at the board’s offices in the Dobbs Building in Raleigh. Members of the public may observe the meeting online or by phone.

Coastal science panel releases shoreline structures report

The N.C. Coastal Resources Commission Science Panel released a report June 18 examining oceanfront hardened structures and shoreline stabilization approaches. The report is intended to inform future discussions about coastal management and does not establish policy or regulatory changes.

Text and chat options added to NC Peer Warmline

The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services announced June 15 that text and chat options are now available through North Carolina’s Peer Warmline. The 24/7 service is operated by Promise Resource Network and is part of the state’s crisis response system.

NCDEQ opens Helene debris grant applications

The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality is accepting applications through Sept. 14 for the Debris Recovery & Disposal grant program. The program provides up to $18 million for eligible local governments, councils of government and nonprofits in FEMA-declared counties damaged by Hurricane Helene.
