Chief justice appoints chief judge for new District 5A
Chief Justice Paul Newby appointed Judge Mario White as chief district court judge for new District 5A, according to the North Carolina Judicial Branch. The newly created district consists of Duplin, Jones and Sampson counties. The appointment is effective Jan. 1, 2027. Source: N.C. Judicial Branch
Legislature lists Aug. 31 session date
The North Carolina General Assembly’s legislative calendar lists House and Senate sessions convening at noon Monday, Aug. 31. The calendar also lists a 10 a.m. meeting of the Blue Ribbon Commission on Public Education at the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation. Source: NCGA
