Keeping North Carolinians Safe: Governor Stein Addresses First Gang Prevention and Intervention Task Force Meeting

(RALEIGH) Today Governor Josh Stein joined the Gang Prevention and Intervention Task Force’s first meeting to discuss how his administration is working to keep North Carolinians safe and prevent violent crime. The task force, established in August through Executive Order 21, is charged with identifying solutions to create safe communities across North Carolina by reducing gang violence and helping young people reach a productive and fulfilling adulthood.

Today, legislative leaders agreed to hold votes during the previously scheduled October legislative session to block the efforts of blue state Democrats to take control of Congress from Republicans. The General Assembly anticipates returning to Raleigh next week to consider a new Congressional map. 

Senate Passes Fiscal Year 2026 Defense Bill Including Budd-Secured Wins for North Carolina

Washington, D.C. — Senator Ted Budd (R-N.C.), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC), voted to pass the Senate version of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) last night. The bill includes numerous provisions to improve readiness and quality of life for our troops, increase funding for North Carolina military installations, protect the homeland, and strengthen alliances abroad. 

Governor Stein Calls for Comprehensive Mental Health Investments to Promote Public Safety

(RALEIGH) Recent events across North Carolina have been tragic reminders of the need to meaningfully invest in mental health resources, and Governor Josh Stein today called for comprehensive resources to keep people safe and healthy. Governor Stein also toured Integrated Family Services in Greenville, which will be opening a new Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC) later this month.
