NC House Overrides Gov. Stein’s Veto of HB 805:

Prevent Sexual Exploitation/ Women and Minors

Raleigh, NC – The North Carolina House of Representatives today voted to override Governor Stein’s veto of House Bill 805—Prevent Sexual Exploitation/Women and Minors.

House Bill 805 codifies common sense by:

  • Defining male and female in state law to ensure clarity in legal and policy matters.

  • Prohibiting taxpayer-funded gender transitions for prisoners and minors.

  • Upholding parents’ right to know what materials their children are being exposed to in school.

  • Creating age verification and consent requirements for individuals appearing in adult images, providing for the removal of that content, and creating enforcement mechanisms.

  • Protecting girls' private spaces and sleeping quarters on overnight school trips.
