It is with deep sadness that I share the passing of my beloved daddy and hero, former Governor Jim Hunt. He devoted his life to serving the people of North Carolina, guided by a belief that public service should expand opportunity, strengthen communities, and always put people first. His leadership and compassion left a lasting impact on the lives of countless North Carolinians.

Senator Budd Releases Statement Following Senate Passage of Historic NDAA Investing in U.S. National Defense

Washington, D.C. — Senator Ted Budd (R-N.C.), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC), voted in favor of passage of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) today. The bill includes numerous provisions to improve readiness and quality of life for our troops, increase funding for North Carolina military installations, deter China, and strengthen alliances abroad. The defense package is now headed to the President’s desk to be signed into law.

Senators Budd, Fetterman Introduce Bipartisan Legislation to Create First National Network of AI-Enabled, Automated Labs

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senators Ted Budd (R-N.C.) and John Fetterman (D-Pa.) introduced the National Programmable Cloud Laboratories Network Act to create a national network of six remotely accessible programmable cloud laboratories (PCLs) for academic research, led by the National Science Foundation (NSF). By joining existing laboratory data processing power together, this bill would help researchers use their time and financial resources more effectively through automation and integration of large data sets.

Governor’s Council on Workforce and Apprenticeships Continues to Advance Workforce Opportunities in North Carolina

  (RALEIGH) Today Governor Josh Stein’s Council on Workforce and Apprenticeships released a report identifying 30 strategies designed to advance North Carolina’s workforce and expand access to good jobs with good wages. When implemented, these proposed strategies will help the state attain the 11 workforce goals that the Council recommended in June.
